About Joanna (she/her):
I am a Registered Psychologist (1017354) providing individual psychological services to adults in Victoria, B.C. I have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of:
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
Trichotillomania (hair pulling)
Skin picking and other body-focused repetitive behaviours (BFRBs)
Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD)
Hoarding disorder
I completed my Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Adler University in Toronto and have been providing psychological services for more than 20 years. I recently relocated to Victoria, where I offer both in-person and virtual services.
My Approach
OCD and related conditions have been a significant focus of my clinical work since 2000. I understand how debilitating these difficulties can be, and I am passionate about helping people reduce their impact and get back to living their lives.
My approach is collaborative, practical, and individualized. For OCD, I primarily use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), a well-established form of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT).
For BFRBs, I use the Comprehensive Behavioral (ComB) treatment.
OCD and BFRBs can occur alongside concerns such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, and perfectionism. I consider the whole picture when developing treatment plans and may recommend collaboration with or referral to another provider when additional expertise would be helpful.
Experience & Training
I am registered as a psychologist in both British Columbia and Ontario and continue to provide virtual treatment to Ontario clients through Archways Centre for CBT, an International OCD Foundation (IOCDF)-recognized specialty outpatient clinic for OCD and related disorders.
